A little long-winded for the average general inquiry as well. Everything seems to hinge on the (1 meg of data) 'community directory' indexed A-Z. But body of site has everything (ex search engine). Laid out in a rather confusing way. I had to go into 'about us' to find anything about the council. The rest is tourism focused. E SNO www.snowyriver.nsw.gov.au 3 - A true 'no frills' website. No fancy pictures/graphics, dropdown menus, search engines, etc. Just a series of simple links that get you where you want to go. F SSY www.sscc.nsw.gov.au 3 - This site is partially under construction. Not badly laid out, but, as always a little long-winded. Going to be a devil of a job to find any contacts. Although I would imagine they are there 'somewhere'. G SYD www.cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au 1 - Not surprisingly a 'top drawer' w/site. Some real dollars have been ploughed into this one. Contact is by secure form. Could find no evidence of senior management. Focus is on sydney's culture, public services and heritage. H TAL www.tallaganda.nsw.gov.au 2 - Thing that makes this site is the 'what's new' pop up. Front page took a long time to load and then did not load properly. Certainly by no means professional, but a nice amateur effort at w/site development. I TAM www.tamworth.nsw.gov.au 3 - Sound w/site that gets you to where you want to go, albeit the 'council departments' link that I wanted turned out to be a 404 J TEM www.tenterfield.nsw.gov.au 2 - Nothing fancy, just a good, pretty, 'get you where you want' w/site. k TUT www.tumut.nsw.gov.au 2 - This is probably as basic as a '2 rating' gets, but the site works on a very simple (7 tier) primary index, with more substantial (though digestible) secondary indexes. L TWE www.tweed.nsw.gov.au 1 - Just about our perfect site (even though it shut me down mid stream). Detailed primary index, but easy to read as this is broken into sub-indexes. 'News' focused. M WAG www.wagga.nsw.gov.au 3 - basic but 'slick' site N WAR www.sinsw.gov.au/plb/libs/ 404 O WAH www.warringah.nsw.gov.au 3 - A solid 3 rating and almost a 2. Front page (empty) could be improved, others are a bit 'cluttered'. P WAV www.waverly.nsw.gov.au 404 Q WEN www.wentworth.nsw.gov.au 3 - tidy, though not flash w/site. R WIL www.willoughby.nsw.gov.au 2 - I've given this one 2 on the grounds of the applet style dropdowns on the front page. Layout is not the best (for our purposes). Pages take a rather long time to load (comparatively). S WIN www.wsc.nsw.gov.au 2 - Well thought out and laid out. Cant fault this one. T WLG www.wollongong.nsw.gov.au 2 - Visually attractive 'tight' website without being over fancy. U WOO www.woolahra.nsw.gov.au 404 V WYO www.wyongsc.nsw.gov.au 3 - tidy website W TEM www.yarrowlumla.nsw.gov.au 4 - cheap and cheerful, but does the job. X YAS www.yass.nsw.gov.au 3 - visually boring. Functional. Y YOU www.young.nsw.gov.au 3 - Well laid out and easy to follow links to correct destination. However each page takes a terrific amount of time to load, as it usually includes a sizable .jpg, .gif file.
